Vicinity was proud to sponsor and attend the Science Club for Girls' 2024 Catalyst Awards! The Science Club for Girls fosters excitement, confidence, and literacy in STEM for girls and gender-expansive youth from underrepresented communities by providing free, experiential programs and connecting members with women-in-STEM mentors. The awards night earlier this month celebrated 30 years of the club and spotlighted outstanding leadership that has been pivotal in advancing a more diverse, equitable, and dynamic STEM ecosystem. Thank you, Science Club for Girls, for hosting this great event! As champions of diversity and advocates for STEM education, we couldn't be more honored to support this organization. #CatalystAwards2024 #STEMEducation

Last week, the Vicinity team joined the Wharton Square Park team to celebrate their PA Governor's Award for Environmental Excellence from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection🎖️ In attendance were City of Philadelphia Councilman Kenyatta Johnson and PA House of Representatives Rep. Jordan Harris, who both gifted the park additional resources for future improvements to celebrate their win! Vicinity was proud to support this project by contributing a zero-emissions water wagon that allowed volunteers to water sections of the park that were otherwise out of reach. Vicinity's Chief Sustainability Officer Matt O'Malley shared his thoughts on the project: "We are proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with our neighbors in building a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable Philadelphia." @Friends of Wharton Square P ark #Philly #GovernorsAwardforEnvironmentalExcellence #FriendsofWhartonSquarePark

We're proud to be working with the City of Grand Rapids on an exciting #solar energy project in Grand Rapids. ☀️ Crain's Grand Rapids Business dove into the details of the project: a large solar project on a former landfill could provide renewable energy to our Fulton Street facility, which currently heats dozens of public and private facilities in downtown Grand Rapids. Our Vice President and General Manager Jesse Douglas, PE explained how the project coincides with Vicinity's decarbonization goals: our Grand Rapids facility is in the process electrifying by installing electric boilers, which could potentially be used to generate steam with the solar energy produced by the Butterworth project. Our Grand Rapids team had an eventful time at the Michigan Energy Summit last week! Hosted by USGBC West Michigan, the day was filled with networking and engaging information sessions. Vicinity's Vice President and General Manager, Jesse Douglas, PE, spoke in the informative fireside chat alongside U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)'s Bobby Boyd, SHRM-CP, ICYB, PMP and Rick Blumenstock of Consumers Energy, and moderated by Alison Sutter of the City of Grand Rapids. Vicinity's Business Manager Medina Jones made some great opening remarks and introduced one of the day's guest speakers. Event attendees also joined us for a tour of our Grand Rapids facility to get a behind-the-scenes look at our district energy operations. Thank you to everyone for joining us, and USGBC West Michigan for a great event! #MichiganEnergySummit
